GURSEWAK SINGH

Always having a passion for art and excelling in visual art during school, I finally started painting as a serious hobby in 2020 during the Covid lockdowns. As a self-taught artist painting with acrylics, I am enjoying learning from other members and seeing the world in different and interesting ways. I enjoy painting landscapes with a range of colours.

MARY STEPHENS

30 years ago Science and Art couldn't be studied together, it was either one or the other. So it was science at 20, and Art at 40 at TAFE. I worked in the disability field as an instructor, specialising in the arts and craft, teach adults with disability. Currently a member of the CAG, I am developing my art skills. My many Australian Landscape paintings adorn in my hallway and are frequently admired by the traveller, who pass through.

BOB CRAIG

I always had an interest in drawing from childhood. I have selected oils as my preferred medium because, if I stuff it up, I can cover it up and continue. I am exploring many directions in oil painting landscapes, seascapes, portraits and abstracts.

MARY HERRING (Life Member)

After retiring one thing on my wish list was learning to paint. Painting has provided me with an enjoyable, relaxing hobby which I wish I had taken up earlier. It has also given me a greater appreciation of the wonderful colours that nature surrounds us with.

REX AMOS

I was interested in art as a small child. I had a successful solo exhibition in 1993 at Doncaster Art Gallery. I have recently delved into acrylic but prefer water colours. I have been painting in water colours for 28 years. I like the spontaneous aspect which allows for imagination.

DOROTHY COLLINS

I am a hobby artist who has been painting for over 20 years. My favorite mediums are oil or watercolour, but I have also dabbled in pastels (getting into them with my fingers to blend colours). I love painting landscapes, which include putting horses, dogs, birds or possums into them, to bring the painting alive. I attend a few art shows a year and get a buzz if I have sod one, or won a prize. Recently I won first prize at the Whittlesea show for an Oil painting of a wildcat among foliage.

KERRY DE GABRIELLE

I started art a couple of years ago, on retirement. Trying all mediums and varied subjects, learning with C.A.G. and U3A.

RHONDA MCGUINESS

I grew up in Barham NSW, by the Murray River. I love Art, Science, Ancient History. My main practice has been focused on Textiles, and in recent years Mosaic. I've attended two Roman Mosaic study tours in Italy and exhibited in Victoria. To improve my mosaic practice since retiring from the workforce I am now learning to draw and paint. So far I'm sticking to drawing and acrylic painting. I am new, but am already loving the Craigieburn Art Group ethos.

NICOLA KELLY

It was in the year 2000 that I purchased an ‘how to’ art magazine. I quickly moved on from doing still life drawings to watercolours. Over the following years, through art classes and demonstrations, I learned how to use various mediums. Today I prefer pastels. My favourite subjects are children, and nature. I have had success with these at art shows, competitions and sales. I find it invaluable to be a member of an art group, to continue my growth as an artist.

EVELYN LOMAS

From childhood, I enjoyed drawing from nature, especially trees. A few times in my adult life, opportunities have enabled me to embellish an aricle, item or walls. During 2020 lockdowns, I developed a yearning to reconnect with nature and started doing regular paintings and printing. As a Herbalist and Naturopath, foraging for seeds and plants is a joy. Joining CAG has boosted my opportunity to do creative works, regularly & learn from others.
